story is that Samuel Lewis’s pool has become a safety hazard and he now owes
1.5 million to the county. He had no idea that he was being fined because of a
lack of an effective communication system for code enforcement in Seminole
County.
Description of who has the problem: Samuel Lewis has the
specific problem of owing a lot of money to the county, but the bigger problem
is being dealt by Seminole County, who can’t figure out an efficient way to get
their people to clean up their property.

Title: Housing elderly sex offenders sparks crisis
Description of the story: A man named Leonard Bailey is 82
years old, has dementia, and is unable to take care of himself. Bailey is a sex
offender, which means that nursing and retirement homes won’t accept him.
Elderly sex offenders are struggling to find places to live and people to take
care of them, which has created the conflict of prioritizing the elderly sex offender’s
health or the protection of children.
Description of the problem: That problems that occurs in
this story is Leonard Bailey is unable to take care of himself, but he can’t receive
assisted care because he is a sex offender. This has opened up the debate regarding
if elderly sex offenders should have or shouldn’t have the right to assisted
care.
Description of who has the problem: Leonard Bailey and many
other elderly sex offenders can’t get the care they need because of nursing and
retirement homes not accepting them.
Opportunity 3:
Title: Fla. waters are killing people. I was almost one of
them.
Description of the story: A man was paddle-boarding in
Florida and fell on oyster shells that cut his leg up. He didn’t realize how
serious of an injury it was, as the doctors placed him on amputation watch. The
bacteria that caused this horrific injury is named vibrio vulnificus, which
along with algae blooms and red tide, are caused by global warming and climate
change.
Description of the problem: Global warming and climate
change are serious issues that are constantly being overlooked. Human beings in
general must take care of the environment better or these problems will
continue growing and affecting more people.
Description of who has the problem: This article focuses on the
man who suffered this incident, but it is meant to reach out to everyone as it
is everyone’s responsibility to take care of the environment in order to limit
these problems.
Opportunity 4:
Title: NASA asking for more money to go to the moon - But
will it be enough this time?
Description of the story: NASA and the White House have
mutual interest in returning to the moon in the near future. This decision
could open up a huge opportunity as there is significant interest
internationally to travel to the moon. This program would be very expensive to
finance, but it is becoming more of a possibility every day.
Description of the problem: NASA and the White House are
interested in traveling to the moon, but it would take billions of dollars to
finance and may not be perceived well by the public.
Description of who has the problem: NASA is the one dealing
most directly with this problem, as they are limited by how much money they can
receive in order to run this program. It will be difficult for NASA to acquire
the resources necessary for a trip to the moon without requesting a lot more
money in the future.
Opportunity 5:
Title: Is the thrill over? - Experts say interest in virtual
reality roller coasters is fading
Description of the story: Virtual reality roller coasters
are becoming less popular and are now not worth the problems they create. The
original interest has faded and theme parks have to adjust by putting their
focus back on real roller coasters.
Description of the problem: Virtual reality roller coasters
are expensive, difficult to clean, and create long lines. Now that people are
less interested in them, they are beginning to fade out of theme parks.
Description of who has the problem: Theme parks are directly
impacted by this problem as they now have to find additional ways to get people
to come to their parks. They will have to make the tough decision on whether to
keep or get rid of their virtual reality roller coasters and figure out what is
the best step for them moving forward.
I really enjoyed the choice of articles you picked! I really liked the second one and how it talked about the offender and how he wants to live a normal life and nowhere is accepting him. Your last article was interesting because I think people were going into the direction of technology and losing sight of the actual mechanics and fun of a rollercoaster. I would that to be fascinating.

I gotta say, I almost thought you were referring to yourself in the third one. It's interesting to see how bad global warming is, and yet you'll always find people trying to deny it.
